When dogs and cats are wiped out by a mysterious disease, apes take their place as pets. But unlike dogs and cats, the apes can perform household chores as well. Their human masters become more and more oppressive, so McDowall finds it necessary to put on his chimpanzee head once more to organize a bloody revolt that occupies the last third of the movie. The ape makeup could use a little touching up in this fourth time around for the ape series.
